ABC is going through its entire collection of Bad Idea Jeans this week, as only a day after the network cancelled its Adam Lambert performance, Good Morning America has booked Chris Brown for an exclusive interview and a possible performance. In math terms, apparently ABC thinks that an assault conviction > a guy kissing another guy.

“The network is giving a mixed message,” an ABC insider told the New York Post’s Page Six. “It doesn't trust someone who shocked with an unpredictable show and a gay kiss, but then it is happy to go ahead with Chris Brown, who was convicted of felony assault."

Executives at ABC are adamant that they didn’t cancel Lambert’s Good Morning America performance because of his sexual orientation.

"He was not cancelled over a gay kiss,” said one producer. “He showed himself to be unpredictable on live TV."

Brown’s interview, which will air in two weeks, was taped last week with GMA host Robin Roberts. Producers on the morning show are hoping the segment will give them a ratings boost similar to Diane Sawyer’s interview with Rihanna last month.

"Chris Brown's interview was booked way before Adam Lambert took to the stage. It is to give him a chance to respond to Rihanna's interview,” said a source at ABC. “The possibility of him performing a song will be worked out next week."
