As if the Demi Moore saga needed to get any sadder, the 911 call her friends placed on Jan. 23 has just been released.
In the heavily redacted call, three of Moore's friends plead with the dispatcher to send an ambulance to Moore's Beverly Hills home, saying the actress, 49, was "having convulsions" and "burning up" after smoking an unknown substance.
"She smoked something. It's not marijuana, but it's similar to it. It's similar to incense," says a female pal, who was the first to talk to the dispatcher. "She seems to be having convulsions of some sort."
The caller adds, "She's semi-conscious, barely. She's convulsing."
A second, calmer woman also gets on the phone and says, "She's shaking, convulsing, burning up. I'm taking cold water and putting it on her back because she's burning up."
At one point, the woman is heard saying, "Demi, can you hear me? Yes, she's squeezing my hand. She can't speak."
"Has she done this before?" the dispatcher asks at one point.
"I don't know. There's been some stuff recently that we're all just finding out," responds the woman, who says Moore's "has been having some issues lately."
A man then gets on the phone to give instructions about opening the gate, and at one point, the man calls out to a person named "Ru" to ask about the gate's access code, a possible reference to Moore's daughter, Rumer Willis.
