Because Kim Kardashian isn't on television nearly enough, America's favourite pile of false eyelashes and spray tan will be making the transition from ubiquitous reality starlet to ubiquitous reality starlet on a scripted comedy.

Kardashian announced she'll appear on Lifetime series Drop Dead Diva, with her butt turning up in a multiple-episode arc beginning with the show's Season 4 premiere. According to a press release, Kardashian will play Nikki, a new romantic interest for Fred (Ben Feldman). Neat. At long last, she has something in common with Liza Minnelli and Paula Abdul.

A comedy about a fat-and-sassy lady-lawyer who's inhabited by the ghost of a dead supermodel, Drop Dead Diva is arguably the most prestigious programming Lifetime has to offer, second only to original TV movie, Drew Peterson: Untouchable, starring Kaley Cuoco and Rob Lowe's fake moustache.

As such, yay for Kimmy K. Here are some congratulatory words shared by the series' creator, Josh Berman, in an official statement. "I'm ecstatic to welcome Kim to the Diva family," he said. "In discussing the role of Nikki with her, I'm blown away by her smarts, sense of humour and passion. This series is all about reinvention and I'm so excited to see Kim 'reinvented' in the world of Drop Dead Diva."

Lest we forget, the Diva role isn’t the the sole example of Kardashian's gradual "reinvention" as an actress. She's guest starred on CSI:NY and How I Met Your Mother, and will appear in Tyler Perry's next movie, The Marriage Counselor (or, as we like to call it, Diary of a Mad Black Woman Who Realized Adding a Kardashian Would Inflate Her Already Crazypants Box Office).
