Now that her sister Ashlee has been mercifully fired from Melrose Place, Jessica Simpson is no longer afraid to reveal her true feelings about the CW primetime soap – and she feels that the show is terrible.
"CW catching up on MP.who writes this crap?" Simpson wrote on Twitter yesterday. "i have had bad scripts to work with, but this?thank God my sister is amazing and got you some press."
Well, we agree with her on the "crap" part.
It's a distinct change of tune from before Ashlee Simpson-Wentz was fired, as the older Simpson sister had previously used Twitter to promote Melrose 2.0.
"Everyone watch my sis on melrose place tonight," Jessica wrote on Oct. 20. We suppose we can disregard that order now.
But according to Melrose Place insiders, Simpson-Wentz was actually one of the crappiest parts of the show and was fired because her acting skills left much to be desired. Not exactly a surprise for anyone who tuned in and saw that the 25-year-old couldn't even drink a can of Red Bull convincingly.
"They hired her because they needed a good name to help create buzz," a Melrose Place spy told Us Weekly. "But she was embarrassingly bad. Producers cut her down as much as possible."
Added another source: "She's the worst actress, but nobody will tell her."
Unfortunately, no one has yet to tell Simpson-Wentz about her lack of acting ability, as a friend close to her told Us Weekly that she intends to keep acting.
"She's reading scripts. Acting is her focus now," said the friend. "If she had an album, she'd have to tour and be away from [11-month-old son] Bronx. She wants consistency."
Well, at least we don't have to deal with another Ashlee Simpson-Wentz album. Silver lining!
