Listen up, kiddies: just because two actors pretend to love each other in a movie, that doesn’t mean that they’re actually doe-eyed and sweaty-palmed for each other in real life. Well, except for Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson – we’re still holding out hope for those two.
But in the case of Camp Rock costars Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, there’s simply no real-life smoocharoos going on. Sure, they played rockin’ couple Mitchie and Shane in the hit Disney Channel movie, but Lovato spoke out yesterday to quash reports of a real-life romance.
"There's been a lot of rumors lately that I'm dating one of my best friends Joe. I can promise my entire career that I am not. It's unfortunate that some people out there are so desperate for attention that they have to make up gossip to keep their site alive," Lovato posted to her Twitter page yesterday.
That’s not to say that Lovato and Jonas don’t enjoy a little romance from time to time; Lovato was previously linked to Miley Cyrus’ older brother, Trace, while Jonas had relationships with Taylor Swift and Camilla Belle.
But when it comes to dating Joe, Lovato said: "We've NEVER dated. He's incredible, but we don't have feelings for each other in that way. I love you guys, and I wouldn't lie about that."
Don’t feel too heartbroken, though: Lovato and Jonas will be reprising the roles of Mitchie and Shane in Camp Rock 2, due out in 2010. Maybe they’ll even kiss this time!
