Excuse the interruption, everyone, but Jack White debuted a new song today. "Love Interruption" -- that's the name of it -- doesn't involve Stephen Colbert or Wanda Jackson or the cast of American Pickers or two dudes who continually find themselves puzzling over "f*cking magnets," nor is it a track from The Dead Weather or The Raconteurs. Not the White Stripes, either (their dissolution having been announced a year ago this week, lest we forget).

No, "Love Interruption" is -- ahem -- just Jack. (Well, almost "just Jack." Some high and warbling back-up vocals appear to be credited to Ruby Amanfu.)

Either way, the tune heralds a first for White. Prolific as he is, White's never released a solo album -- really -- but on April 24, that will change with the arrival of Blunderbuss. The Third Man Records man announced as much today, saying in a statement that Blunderbuss is a record he "couldn't have released until now."

He continued: "I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas."

"Love Interruption" swings along with the sound of Wurlitzer and acoustic guitar. There's no rock 'n' roll gut-punch of drums and electric guitar -- but the vicious lyrics are more than an ample substitute. "I want love to roll me over slowly, stick a knife inside me, and twist it all around," White sings on the opening verse, continuing on in the same pattern of violence -- like a gory and musical game of Would You Rather.

The song, which is posted below and also streaming at www.jackwhiteIII.com, goes onsale digitally tonight as of 9 p.m. PST. A 7" format will follow Feb. 7, featuring a B-side titled "Machine Gun Silhouette."
