Toronto actress Lisa Ray, who can be seen in the film Cooking with Stella at the Toronto International Film Festival, has revealed she has incurable cancer.

Toronto actress Lisa Ray has revealed she has incurable cancer.

The 37-year-old star of Deepa Mehta's Water and Bollywood/Hollywood announced on her blog this week that she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma on June 23 and began chemotherapy the following month.

Multiple myeloma is a cancer of antibody-producing white blood cells formed in bone marrow. It cannot be cured.

"It's true the deepest crises are moments of great opportunity," Ray writes in her blog. "An event that shocks you into seeing with heart. A place from which to combine survival and celebration."
