As if Twilight fans' heads weren't already about to explode after this weekend's box office feeding frenzy – in which the teen vamp flick sucked up teenage allowances and babysitting money for an astounding $70.5 million US debut – a handful of specially chosen Twihards were treated to an extra surprise when they checked their inboxes this weekend. Nestled in between all those "OMG! Edward Cullen owns my soul!!1!!" emails from their pals was a personal message from the films' stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, reports MTV News.
In the latest example of the grassroots campaigning that made the low-budget flick a mega-hit, the pair – who play star-crossed lovers Edward and Bella – sent the following email straight to a handful of the most hard-core Twilighters:
To all of our wonderful, loyal and fantastic fans:
Thank you from the entire cast & crew for your amazing support of Twilight. You've blown away all of our expectations, and we feel so honored to have made a film that means as much to you as it does to us. Without your passion, interaction and support, this film would not be where it is today — the #1 movie in America! From every city, every stop, every interview we have done, you've made this an unbelievable, nearly surreal experience...and so cool that we were all in this together. We just heard from Summit that we'll be moving forward on New Moon. We look forward to sharing this next chapter with you!
-Kristen & Rob
Awwww. Not only is the letter sweet, humble and unprecedented, Pattinson and Stewart present an adorable united front that is sure to fuel those rumours that their chemistry isn't limited to on-screen moments. Hear that? That's the sound of a million fangirls spontaneously ovulating.
