It'll be sparkly bloodsuckers versus scrappy slumdogs at this year's MTV Movie Awards. For the first time ever, MTV let the fans select the nominees for their annual golden popcorn giveaway and – as one would expect when tweens are allowed to make decisions – Twilight is leading the way.
The vampire love story is up for seven awards, including Best Movie, Best Female Performance (Kristen Stewart), Breakthrough Performance Male (Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) and Best Kiss.
Nipping at the vamps' heels is Slumdog Millionaire, which scored six nominations, including Best Movie, Breakthrough Performance Female (Freida Pinto) and Breakthrough Performance Male (Dev Patel).
The award show, which is known for its kooky categories, will see stars like Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) and Seth Rogen, James Franco and Danny McBride (Pineapple Express) battle it out for Best Fight. Two new categories have been introduced this year: Best Song from a Movie and Best WTF Moment (which, if there's any justice in this world, will go to Amy Poehler for peeing in a sink in Baby Mama.)
SNL's Andy Samberg will host the show on May 31, and Eminem is set to perform. Voting is now open for all categories at MTV.com.
