After hours of waiting impatiently and ruining their vocal chords with frantic screaming, fans who attended the New Moon panel at the San Diego Comic Con were rewarded with in-person views of Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, as well as two new clips from the upcoming Twilight sequel that pandered to members of both Team Edward and Team Jacob.
During the Q&A session, Pattinson was quick to assure fans that even though Edward is absent for a lot of the New Moon novel, they'll still see plenty of him in the film.
"Edward's just a voice in the book, and so I guess it would look pretty cheesy if it were just my voice," Pattinson said. "They've done these hallucinations, these semi-visible apparitions."
Later, Stewart said: "He's in it a lot."
Other highlights include Lautner describing his workout regime (sadly, he did not take his shirt off in person) and Stewart revealing that her biggest change since filming New Moon is that she cut her hair.
Now, if you were unlucky enough to not attend Comic Con this year, worry not: some attendees were pretty loose-lipped about the New Moon clips that were shown. You’re welcome.
In the first clip, Jacob (Lautner) is teaching Bella (Stewart) how to ride a dirt bike, but Bella's not doing a very good job because she keeps having these pesky hallucinations of Edward standing near her. She realizes that she sees Edward's image every time she does something dangerous, so she quickly jumps back on the bike. Eventually, one of those annoying visions causes her to lose control, fly off the bike and land face-first into a rock. But no worries – here comes Jacob to take off his shirt to wipe the blood away. (Everyone in the room: "AAAHHHHHH!!!!") Bella stares Jacob in the eyes (which is impressive, considering his pecs) and tells him that he's "sort of beautiful," to which he replies, "How hard did you hit your head?"
In the second clip, Alice is driving through the streets of Venice, Italy with Bella in the passenger seat, as Bella gapes at all the people dressed in red robes for the Saint Marcus Day Festival. Alice soon kicks Bella out of the car, telling her she's the only one who can stop Edward from baiting the Volturi by revealing his sparkly skin to the crowd, so our favourite blank-faced heroine runs to the Piazza Grande. Soon she sees her vampire lovah, who is showing off a six-pack of his own (everyone in the room: "AAAHHHHHH!!!!"), but just as Edward is about to step out into the sun to sparkle with all his might, Bella yells out, "Edward, don't!"
Whew! We're gettin' a touch of the vapors just thinking about it.
