New Moon Script Discovered in Garbage Bin

May 12, 2009

For all the haters out there, there's something fitting about news that a script from upcoming sparkly-vampire movie New Moon was found in a random trash bin. For one St. Louis woman, however, it was a crazy surprise that's earned her tickets to the New Moon premiere (and the green-as-Edward-Cullen's-eyes envy of Twihards worldwide).

Casey Ray, a salon owner from St. Louis, spotted the script in a garbage bin, the Associated Press reports -- thus disproving the notion that sneak peeks of the upcoming movie might only be obtained 140 characters at a time.

Along with the New Moon script, AP reports that Ray also obtained a copy of another upcoming movie, Memoirs. And while she toyed with the idea of handing the precious documents over to the highest bidder, Ray ultimately went with the more boring, er, ethical option, and turned them over to production company Summit Entertainment. According to AP, the company will stick her on the guestlist of the movies' premieres as a reward.

"Summit doesn't comment on any of the deals it does," Summit rep Paul Pflug told AP, adding: "We thank Ms. Ray for doing the right thing."

Considering Ray's find wasn't just another fan-fic hoax or rejected half-written Jacob/Edward slash fic, it's yet to be reported how the scripts wound up in the trash in the first place.

One actress connected to the franchise, Anna Kendrick (who plays Bella’s frenemy Jessica) is reportedly in St. Louis shooting upcoming flick Up in the Air with George Clooney. Her rep, however, denied the actress had any connection to the discarded scripts, telling AP that she "wouldn't have left scripts lying around."
