Turns out one former Wildcat won't be turning Werewolf any time soon. Despite reports that Vanessa Hudgens had auditioned for Twilight sequel New Moon, the High School Musical star won't be joining the cast after all. But before you Twilight fans start blaming Hudgens' cutie-pie rep and permanent pout-face for her losing the role of were-girl Leah Clearwater, screenwriter Michelle Rosenberg would like to clarify.
"At the moment, the part of Leah doesn't happen until the third movie," Rosenberg told People over the weekend at the Directors Guild of America Awards, also confirming that the original Twilight cast is (Canadian stalker alert!) currently prepping for production in Vancouver.
And it seems one other pint-sized starlet could be joining the crew of sparkly vampires and angsty werewolves in Van City soon. Remember those Dakota Fanning casting rumours? Well, the actress isn't doing anything to dispel them, blabbing that "it's definitely a possibility" she could be playing nasty vamp Jane in New Moon.
"It's not 100 per cent yet set in stone, but it's definitely not totally untrue or a rumour," Fanning told People.
"I think just playing an evil vampire is really cool," said the 14-year-old –- who can currently be seen portraying a boozing, gun-toting psychic (no, really) in Push. "If I got to do [New Moon], that'd probably be the most fun part.
"I'm a big fan of the cast. To join it would be a really great honour and I really hope it works out."
