Judging from the nasty comments left on our recent story about Vanessa Hudgens potentially joining the New Moon cast, Twilight fans and High School Musical fans do not mix. But the Twi-Hards may have to let go of their Hudgens hatred if they want to catch a glimpse of their favourite sparkly vampire.

The HSM actress stars in a new musical comedy called Bandslam, in which she plays an aspiring singer who joins a group of misfits to compete in their school's battle of the bands. The teen-friendly flick hits theatres Aug. 14, and the trailers shown before the film will include new, never-before-seen footage of New Moon.

Will exclusive scenes from the Twilight sequel be enough to entice anti-Hudgens Twi-hards to the theatre? We're guessing it'll be a tough sell for some of our readers, like Breanna, who posted: "i love the twilight franchise but if they put Vanessa Hudgens in New Moon I WILL BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She will reuin the movies and Disney and Twilight should not be MIXED!"

Of course, if Twilight fans want to catch a glimpse of Robert Pattinson without betraying their teen flick alliances, they could always resort to their usual fallback: stalking. The cast is expected to return to British Columbia on Aug. 17 to begin filming the franchise's third installment, Eclipse, reports MTV News.
