Canadian Actor Cast in Twilight Sequel

February 26, 2009

It seems New Moon's B.C. base of operations won't be the Twilight sequel's only Canadian connection.

Vancouver Island-born actor Bronson Pelletier has been cast in "a significant role," with "a few" other as-yet-unnamed compatriots also joining the team, reports the Toronto Star.

So, will the young actor be playing a werewolf? A vampire? Cafeteria worker No. 2? Further details are being kept as foggy as a bad day in Forks, Wash.

Access Hollywood says Pelletier's reps, Vancouver agency Carrier Talent Management, first broke the news on their official website. "Congratulations to Bronson who scores a lead role in the highly anticipated Twilight feature film sequel New Moon. It's rumored he will be co-staring with Dakota Fanning," read a message on the site.

That post has since been removed from the website (although a cached version is still floating around the Interwebs here). A source close to the New Moon production told the Toronto Star that Pelletier has in fact landed "a significant role," but the snitch also wanted their identity kept mum until "final confirmation this week" of the casting.

Pelletier, whose past credits were on Discovery Kids' Dinosapien and Global's Renagadepress.com, is of Plains Cree heritage, leading multiple outlets (and, naturally, Twi-hards) to speculate he’d been cast as one of Jacob’s werewolf pals (most likely Seth, Quill or Embry) from the Quileute tribe.

Meanwhile, High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens continues to keep the rumours alive that she’ll join Jacob’s pack in a future installment of the Twilight franchise. "It's still a rumour; I'm really interested," she tells Extra. "I think it's a great project, but nothing's happening as of now."
