In Couples Retreat, Vince Vaughn and Jason Bateman and actresses who are too young and hot to be with either of them (Kristen Bell, Malin Ackerman) play, well, couples on a cheap-o vacation at a gorgeous tropical resort. The only hitch: they have to endure couples therapy -- for, one hopes, the amusement of the theatre audience. As long as movies have needed "plot conflict," bickering screen couples have existed.
