Beverly Hills Cop 4 Gets Green Light. No Joke Headline Necessary

May 29, 2008

Are you ready for another Beverly Hills Cop movie? Too bad. There's gonna be one anyway.

Eddie Murphy is set to reprise his role as fish-out-of-water Detroit detective Axel Foley in a fourth installment of the successful 1980s franchise, Variety reports. Wait! Wait! It gets better! They’re looking to get big time douche director Brett Ratner to helm it. You know, the dude who brought us the Rush Hour movies and X3 (AKA the best third X-Men movie directed by Brett Ratner.) Awesome!

According to Variety, it was Murphy who went to Paramount with the idea to revive the franchise and the studio—no doubt drunk on all the rejuvenated Indiana Jones money juice—said “totally!” (Thanks, Eddie!)

The original Beverly Hills Cop trilogy raked in $712.9 million US globally.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 is set for production in 2009 with a summer 2010 release.
