After much rumor and speculation around the geek-i-verse, actor Aaron Eckhart has been officially cast as villain Two-Face in The Dark Knight, the next Batman film.
According to Variety, Eckhart is set to play Gotham City District Attorney Harvey Dent, who is eventually scarred both physically and mentally, becoming the menacing Two-Face.
The race to play the role of Dent/Two-Face has been a long and varied one, with everyone from Justin Timberlake, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Foxx being rumored as possibilities.
Eckhart joins Heath Ledger—who has been cast as Batman nemesis the Joker—as well as Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman, all of whom are reprising their roles from Batman Begins.
Batman Begins helmer Christopher Nolan will return to direct.
