The teaser trailer for Tim Burton's highly anticipated adaptation of Alice and Wonderland was released today, and it looks to be just the kind of dark, quirky film we've come to expect of the unorthodox director.
For those living under a rock, Alice in Wonderland tells the story of young Alice, a girl who falls down a rabbit hole and finds herself in a world where nothing seems to make sense. In Burton's version, Alice returns to Wonderland when she's older, but doesn't remember her childhood adventure there. Along the way, she meets scores of strange characters, including the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp, doing what he does best), the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter) who has a nasty habit of beheading those who displease her, the equally unpredictable White Queen (Anne Hathaway) and plenty of anthropomorphic animals.
We find the teaser to be simultaneously creepy and delightful, and we can't wait for the very important date of March 5, 2010, when it will finally be released in theatres. What do you think? Does Johnny Depp make a perfectly Mad Hatter?
