Batman Going Brokeback?

October 10, 2006

Is the forcoming Batman Begins sequel, The Dark Knight, getting a gay cowboy twist? It’s looking less likely than people buying Tom Cruise’s heterosexuality. Internet rumours were swirling that Brokeback rider Jake Gyllenhaal was to reunite with his man-love, Heath Ledger, for the film, but the actor’s agent is saying that’s a lie, just like George Michael’s sexual orientation in the ‘80s.

Gyllenhaal was thought to be in talks to play Tommy Lee Jones’s character, Harvey “Two-Face” Dent, but it looks like that’s less likely than getting most of Hollywood out of the closet.

"No, the other guy from Brokeback Mountain is in it if you haven't heard," Gyllenhaal’s agent tells the World Entertainment News Network.

Ledger has signed on to play the Joker, the arch nemesis of Batman, who will be played by Christian Bale.
