Because not enough Twihards are on Twitter every waking moment hashtagging stuff like #Twilight4evr and #Eclipseinmypants, the tracklisting for the upcoming Eclipse soundtrack was revealed song by song via MySpaceMusic's official Twitter feed Wednesday with a new tune dropping every half hour. If you thought Edward Cullen was the world's biggest tease, you were wrong.
The music that will be the soundtrack to Edward and Bella's mopey sexual tension is as indie-centric as last year's New Moon compilation.
Newly minted Juno winners Metric provide the creatively titled "Eclipse (All Yours)"; Beck teams with Bat for Lashes on "Let's Get Lost"; Vampire Weekend (how have they not been in on the Twilight fad yet?) contribute "Jonathan Low"; The Bravery turn up with a song called "Ours"; bluesy duo The Black Keys offer "Chop and Change"; and Fanfarlo will appear with "Atlas."
As announced earlier, Twilight author Stephenie Meyers's favourite-est band ever, Muse, will also be appearing on the soundtrack with a song called "Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)." This'll be the third time their music is featured in a Twilight flick, so let's hope the tune is at least given the dignity of not being played during a vampire baseball game.
And we got the scoop on one track before MySpace's announcement. In an interview with Dose.ca Wednesday morning, indie Americana-rockers Band of Horses revealed that they'll be on the Eclipse soundtrack with a song called "Life on Earth."
The tune, written by the band's Bill Reynolds and Creighton Barrett, was an outtake from the band's upcoming album Infinite Arms (out May 18), said lead singer Ben Bridwell -- so, sorry Twihards, don't go expecting any verses directly referencing the great vampire/werewolf war of 2008.
"I don't know crap about it [Twilight]," Bridwell admitted to Dose.ca. "But I know it seems nice. They have good taste in music," he continued, referring to last year's New Moon soundtrack. "They had Thom Yorke on it last time, and Grizzly Bear. I mean, they put really really cool soundtracks together."
