Considering Jack White's the creative rad-lord overseeing bands including the White Stripes, The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs (and those are just the first three projects we could think of), we're always pleasantly surprised when he breaks news that he's managed to fit yet another assignment in his overstuffed schedule.
And while White is reportedly toiling away on new music for the White Stripes and Dead Weather, you'll likely hear another record first -- one he made with the "First Lady of Rockabilly," rock 'n' roll pioneer Wanda Jackson.
"I just finished recording with Wanda Jackson in Nashville," White told MTV, describing their sessions as simply "wild."
"It was just supposed to be a seven-inch [single], but we did a lot more songs, so maybe it will be something bigger," White said. "There was a lot of good stuff. It's a wild record."
Jackson, 72, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just this year. And as several sources, including Entertainment Weekly, speculate, her team-up with White could help push her back into mainstream consciousness -- much like what happened when White worked with Loretta Lynn on her 2004 Grammy-winning record Van Lear Rose.
As for White's other projects, he'd only tell MTV "It's gonna take as long as it takes ... if it takes three months to do a Dead Weather record, we'll take that long.
"The White Stripes record is going to be these two guys [Dead Weather bassist Jack Lawrence and guitarist/ keyboardist Dean Fertita] dressed as me and Meg, so we'll see if something interesting comes out of that."
