Canadian indie-rock heroes the Arcade Fire are celebrating today as singer Win Butler has successfully come out of surgery to save his voice.
The band had been forced to cancel their European tour as Butler had been suffering from a sinus and bronchial infection for more than three months. But the rebellious songster is now on the mend following his surgery.
“Just wanted to let you all know that the surgery was successful, and I am recovering nicely,” Butler writes on the band’s official website. “I will probably start singing again this week some time to try and get ready for the shows in North America.”
Butler went on to say that the forced break has turned out to be great for him and the band.
“It has been a blessing in disguise to be forced to stay home and read, and sleep (pick up Cormac Mcarthy’s The Road if you are feeling like a little post apocalypse…don’t let the Oprah Book Club Sticker scare you away),” he explains. “Regine and I have been started working on some new songs.”
The Arcade Fire will return to Canada for a pair of Montreal homecoming shows May 12 and 13, followed by another double-header in Toronto on May 15 and 16.
