Madonna Earns Cheers for Dissing Sarah Palin

October 8, 2008

Last night in New York, Madonna decided that her Sticky and Sweet stage show needed a little something extra. No, not a second jump-rope routine or an extra 10 milligrams of B12 in the ass -- topical humour.

Madge ripped into vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin several times during her sold-out stint at Madison Square Garden.

According to Us Weekly, Madonna took time between hits to do her best impersonation of the governor's hockey mom accent.

Palin also got a special shout-out during the breakdown of "I Love New York."

"You know who can get off of my street?" shouted Madonna during the song's closing "get off of my street" chorus. "Sarah Palin! I'm gonna kick her ass if she don't get off of my street."

Even Palin's snowmobile wasn't safe from Madonna's snark. While wailing on her guitar, Madonna cracked, "This is the sound of Sarah Palin's husband's snowmobile when it won't start up in the wintertime." (Actually, that sounds kind of awesome. Is there some way we can get our hands on one of these magical rock snowmobiles? We're adorable and know next-to-nothing about foreign policy, too!)

While Madonna's barbs weren't quite as nuanced as, say, Tina Fey's, the queen of pop's brand of sass was enough to make the crowd -- which reportedly included stars including Diddy and Rosie O'Donnell -- cheer, reports Us Weekly.
