Sorry Montreal, you are not a part of the Rhythm Nation.
After months of tour woes including an axed European leg, postponed shows, "migraine-induced vertigo," an AWOL supporting act, indecency complaints and (yes, we're going to go there for the jillionth time) a wardrobe that would make Cher nauseous, Janet Jackson's Rock Witchu tour is being cut short.
Today, Jackson released a statement on her official website announcing that she will not be bothering to make up for tour dates missed earlier this year.
Just minutes before her Sept. 29 Montreal show was scheduled to begin in a blaze of '80s hits, pyro and sex furniture, Jackson fell ill with a "mystery illness" and the show was forced to shut down. Later, it was reported that she was suffering from "migraine-induced vertigo." Several dates in the U.S. were subsequently called off.
While Jackson had rescheduling some of the missed performances, today she has confirmed that she will not be playing the remaining cities. You can find the full list, below. According to her site, tickets will be refunded.
Team Jackson's official word is that the tour is being cut short "due to conflict's in the singer's schedule." Well, it's not as though those Jackson 5 rehearsals are going to fill up her calendar any more. Could Jackson be in need of a doctor's note, again? If she is, Rolling Stone is suggesting she find a cure for bad ticket sales before she tries this sort of thing again.
The following shows will not be rescheduled:
Sept. 29 Montreal, QC Centre Bell
Oct. 1 Boston, MA TD Banknorth Garden
Oct. 2 Philadelphia, PA Wachovia Center
Oct. 4 Greensboro, NC Greensboro Coliseum
Oct. 7 Fort Lauderdale, FL BankAtlantic Center
Oct. 11 Uncasville, CT Mohegan Sun Arena
Oct. 13 Syracuse, NY Turning Stone
