The Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes has told Guns N’ Roses eccentric Axl Rose to “go fuck himself” after the tantrum-prone singer told Eagles they were being kicked off the tour during an onstage rant.
Speaking to NME, Hughes revealed more details about what went down on the first night of the GN’R/Eagles tour — including the fact that Rose’s management called Hughes to apologize for the bad behaviour and said Rose was “really sorry” and wanted them to finish the tour. That was when Eagles delivered the message, “You can tell that motherfucker to go and fuck himself because I will never go through that again.”
Hughes also revealed that Rose wasn’t even in the building when Eagles played, that the crowd wasn’t grumbling because of their music (it was because Axl was two hours late and they were getting frustrated) and that Rose’s behaviour sparked outrage with his bandmates.
“When he called us The Pigeons Of Shit Metal, Tommy Stinson, their bass player, took his bass off and goes: 'Fuck you, that's it'. And then he threw his bass down. But then Axl picked up his bass and fucking threw it at him, dude. It was a fucking circus up there," Hughes told NME, adding that by the end of the night Rose had caused a giant uproar. “It was like a total mutiny on the part of his band and everyone. I could hear screaming in the dressing room, 'Those are our friends and you've insulted our friends'.”
Someone get Rose a valium — or 12.
