Green Day has announced their first proper North American tour in more than three years, and as soon as they log the July 3 kick-off show in Seattle, the band is headed to Canada.
Green Day's booked for 38 shows stretching from July to August 25, and seven of those stops will be spread across Canadian soil (with a few regional exceptions: our regrets to the Maritimes and Toronto. To the latter, should you be willing to leave the Centre of the Universe's gravitational pull, there's at least a few travel options within driving distance.)
Recently, the band has played a spate of warm-up gigs around their SoCal stomping grounds, and according to Rolling Stone, the current Green Day lineup now features two extra guitarists and a keyboard player in addition to original recipe players Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool.
But before fans get the chance to hear the newly expanded band trot out new material from upcoming rock opera 21st Century Breakdown (out May 15), Green Day's set to play a week-long residency on a late-night talk show. It'll be just like that time U2 played a week's worth of shows on Late Night with David Letterman, except, uh, without the best part: David Letterman. The band's booked for Last Call with Carson Daly this June. Final dates have yet to be announced.
Green Day's Canadian tour dates:
July 4 - Vancouver, B.C.
July 6 - Edmonton, Alta.
July 7 - Saskatoon, Sask.
July 9 - Winnipeg, Man.
July 16 - Hamilton, Ont.
July 17 - Ottawa
July 18 - Montreal, Que.
