Sean “Diddy” Combs has a new beef — with Canadians. The rap mogul and sharp businessman is going after Canadian counterfeiters who have been biting his profits by producing knock-off T-shirts, tracksuits and denim from his Sean John clothing line. Diddy has launched an anti-counterfeit campaign called Don’t Buy a Lie to crack down on the problem with the help of Canadian celebrities, including Toronto Raptor Chris Bosh, Canadian Idol judge Farley Flex, Juno award-winning rapper Kardinal Offishall, award-winning video producer LITTLE x and many more.
"Our hope is that the Don't Buy a Lie program is a vehicle for educating consumers who are buying counterfeit goods," said Lorne M. Lipkus, an anti-countefeiting attorney, in a statement. "Consumers are supporting makers who operate in non-authorized factories with deplorable labor conditions that have no respect for standards set forward by many national and international agencies. Not only do they have no code of conduct, but they do not respect minimum salaries, and very often use child labor."
We’re sure the fact he’ll pocket more cash has absolutely nothing to do with his inspiration for the crusade.
