As if Marley and Me's box-office triumph and that naked GQ magazine cover hadn't secured Jennifer Aniston's stranglehold on the title of America's Sweetheart, Brad Pitt would like to add his own personal endorsement.
Yes, despite November's debacle (in which Aniston stated that what Angelina Jolie did "was really uncool"), Pitt told W magazine that he has no ill-will towards his ex, and she's as sweet and adorable as a precocious Labrador pup.
"Listen man, Jen is a sweetheart," Pitt says in W’s February cover story. "I think she got dragged into that one [saying Jolie was "uncool"], and then there's a second round to all that Angie versus Jen. It's so created."
And it seems that Pitt is taking his recent box-office thrashing in stride, as he says he and Aniston are still chummy. "We still check in with each other," he says. "She was a big part of my life, and me hers. I don't see how there cannot be [that]. That's life, man. That's life."
As for the event that got this recent Angie vs. Jen "uncool" war going -- Pitt and Jolie's alleged affair on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith -- Pitt would like to set the record straight on his current special lady's previous statements.
In October, Jolie told the New York Times that she and Pitt "fell in love" on the Mr. and Mrs. Smith set -- which started production while Pitt and Aniston were still married.
Pitt's a little more careful with the details, however. As he tells it: "What people don't understand is that we filmed for a year. We were still filming after Jen and I split up. "Even then it doesn't mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn't," he says. "I'm very proud of the way that it was handled. It was respectful. [The film] will mean something to our kids. It will, that's all."
