Marshall is going to be crushed: People reports that How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan is expecting her first child with husband Alexis Denisof. Lucky for them, if their kid ever wants to know how Mommy and Daddy met, they won't need to tell a long, meandering story about each and every event leading up to their first meeting, including unnecessary details, plenty of red herrings and borderline-inappropriate sexual references.

In fact, the story of how Hannigan, 34, and Denisof, 42, got together is not only well-documented but also arguably prepared them for the frequent battle that is parenthood: the couple first met on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer during the 1998-99 season. Although they didn't begin dating until Denisof left Buffy for its spinoff, Angel, he and Hannigan were wed by late 2003 near Palm Springs, Calif.

Hannigan is scheduled to give birth in Spring 2009.
