Wild Oat
If you live anywhere near the Glebe, you probably already know about the Wild Oat. For those who don’t it’s one of the healthiest places in town to eat. Even its cakes, brownies and other sweets are good for you, relatively speaking. Wherever possible, whether in the crêpes, cookies, curries, soups, salads or breads, the cooks at Wild Oat use natural and organic products.
People with allergies do particularly well at this spot because of its many wheat- and sugar-free offerings. The breakfast menu is especially popular; take your pick of scrambled, free-range eggs or tofu to go with your meal. The Japanese breakfast consists of miso soup, brown rice, veggies, onions and mushrooms. Try a croissant, they are homemade. In addition to good food, the walls at Wild Oat are littered with paintings by local artists, there is good music wafting in the air and there is a reading corner with a comfy armchair and shelves of books. All of the food is available for takeout.
Monday to Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
