SPOILER ALERT: 90210 is amping up the drama in its second season, ditching the boring, lovey-dovey, "we're all friends and that's wonderful" storylines of Season 1. And the best (and easiest) way of creating some relationship drama? Lesbians, of course.
Entertainment Weekly reports that new character Gia (played by Rumer Willis) will finally have something (and someone) to do on future episodes, romancing a previously thought-to-be heterosexual female character. So who's the lucky lady?
According to 90210 producer Rebecca Sinclair, Gia will hook up with Adrianna, who is looking to expand her horizons after her big breakup with Navid and aborted fling with Teddy.
"This isn't a fling," Sinclair told Entertainment Weekly. "We're coming at this [relationship] from a genuine place and not going, 'Let's do a titillating story that will grab some promotion.' This is a real aspect of teenager life that's interesting... And there's been a real void in the 90210 universe in terms of gay and bisexual characters."
Of course, Josh Schwartz made the same claim when he made Mischa Barton and Olivia Wilde hook up on The O.C., and that turned out to be an excuse to show half-naked chicks making out with each other. Not that we're complaining.
