The gyms, tanning beds and laundries of Hoboken, New Jersey have just dodged a massive public safety situation thanks to their tough-on-crime mayor.

Hoboken head gumba Dawn Zimmer laid down the law on the proposed Snooki and JWOWW Jersey Shore spinoff, denying the producer's permit request "based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents."

"The city has denied a film permit for a spin-off of the Jersey Shore to be filmed in public locations," Zimmer wrote in a statement. In a separate letter, the mayor asserted that she and the city council were surprised to discover that the show's producers claimed to have made "informal 'verbal agreements' involving payments to individuals," reports Reuters.

"[Hoboken is] a community that has experienced significant corruption in the recent past," Zimmer continued, adding that her city has a "zero-tolerance" policy for such actions.

We guess Snooki will have to wet her bed elsewhere.
