Swiftly-Cancelled TV Shows

From The Beautiful Life to Emily's Reasons Why Not, we look at TV shows that got the axe after only a few episodes.

Viva Laughlin, 2007 (CBS) Lasted: 2 episodes Another failed adaptation of a successful British series, it's a wonder that this show was a hit in any country. A murder-mystery series set in a Nevada casino, Viva Laughlin was a sort-of musical. Why "sort of"? Because while characters would sing popular contemporary songs, they didn't do their own versions of them, like Glee does so well -- no, the actors would just be singing along as the original songs played overtop. Yeah. Despite Hugh Jackman producing (and occasionally guest starring), the show was universally panned. (Wrote the New York Times: "Viva Laughlin on CBS may well be the worst new show of the season, but is it the worst show in the history of television?") Viewers were even less impressed than the critics, and after devastating ratings, CBS cancelled the show after two episodes.
