A GE Tri-Vection oven can cook a turkey in 22 minutes, but it took two years for Alec Baldwin to get burnt out on 30 Rock. Despite earning rave reviews and an Emmy nomination for playing Jack Donaghy on the NBC sitcom, the 50-year-old actor tells the New York Post he is considering leaving the show and the acting world altogether.
"I've done this now for a long time and I've enjoyed it, and the TV show is the greatest job I've ever had. But I just feel like there's other things I want to do. I'm tired. The business has changed," Baldwin said. "You turn around one day, like me -- I'm 50 and I don't want to work as much. I used to be all about work, and now I'm burnt out. I really don't like working."
Baldwin's personal life has certainly had some low points in the last few years, notably when a voice mail he left for his daughter was leaked, in which he called her "a rude, thoughtless little pig" for not answering her phone.
"The other 360 days of the year, when you're just handing out lollipops and riding unicorns through cotton-candy forests and everything's so magical, they don't report that," Baldwin told the Post, adding that it may be "time for a change" in his life and that he's considering going into politics.
Don't take Jack Donaghy away from us, Baldwin! Sure, being the vice president of east coast television and microwave oven programming is a draining, demanding job, but just do what Liz Lemon does whenever she has to do something she doesn't want to: pretend it's a sandwich!
