Look out, Laura Leighton, because there's another auburn-haired temptress moving into your place – your Melrose Place, in fact. Following her guest stint on CSI: New York, Ashlee Simpson has signed on to star on the upcoming remake of Melrose Place, playing a part remarkably similar to Sydney, the role Leighton played on the original recipe of the show in the 1990s.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 24-year-old singer will play Violet, a small-town girl with big-city aspiration – and the "at all costs" attitude that comes along with such aspirations, meaning you can expect Simpson to be stealing plenty of boyfriends and plotting many a downfall.
Mischa Barton is reportedly still in talks to join the show (boo!), as is Melrose alum and Queen Bitch extraordinaire, Heather Locklear (yay!). The rebooted series is expected to join the CW's schedule in the fall, most likely as a companion to 90210.
