We need to talk, The Ex-List. It's not that you weren't a great show. Well, OK, you weren't a great show, but you had your moments. It's just that at this point on their journey, CBS is looking for show that won't repel viewers, you know? And no matter how hard you try, you just can't fulfill their needs. You gave it your all, but it's not working out.
Yes, Entertainment Weekly reports that despite a valiant effort to keep the relationship alive, CBS ultimately decided to cut ties with The Ex-List, the network's new Friday night offering about a woman searching through all of her ex-boyfriends to find her soul mate. The show was already on shaky ground when showrunner Diane Ruggiero quit mid-September, but even though the only episodes that have aired have been ones Ruggiero worked on, viewers just weren't interested.
Last Friday's episode garnered a paltry 5.1 million viewers, down nearly 50 per cent from the 9.9 million viewers who (inexplicably) tuned in to watch Jennifer Love Hewitt talk to ghosts on CBS's lead-in, Ghost Whisperer. Taking The Ex-List's place on the schedule is one of CBS's more successful suitors, NCIS – the network always was a sucker for Mark Harmon's boyish charm.
