The line-up for the fall 2009 season of Dancing with the Stars was announced this morning on Good Morning America, and sorry, world, but Paula Abdul and Audrina Patridge are nowhere to be found. But worry not! There are still plenty of fame-hungry sorta-celebs vying for the top prize of an ugly trophy and a few more months of not fading into obscurity.
First on the DWTS docket is Kelly Osbourne, who will have to suppress her affinity for profanity for the live show – which may prove difficult, as Osbourne up against is Mya, whose dancing background suggests the pop singer will quickly become the season's front-runner. Donnie Osmond has also signed on for the season (perhaps to see if he can beat sister Marie's third-place finish from Season 5), as has raspy-voiced singer (and rumoured pothead) Macy Gray.
As usual, there are a few actors who will try their hands at the fox trot: erstwhile teenage witch Melissa Joan Hart, Entourage star Debi Mazar, Ashley Hamilton (son of George Hamilton and the ex-husband of Shannen Doherty) and Polish actress Joanna Krupa. There's also Aaron Carter, former supermodel Kathy Ireland and Iron Chef America chairman Mark Dacascos.
Dancing with the Stars also recruited several sports stars for Season 9, including swimmer Natalie Coughlin, an 11-time Olympic medalist, professional snowboarder Louie Vito, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin and UFC lightweight champion Chuck Liddell.
But perhaps the strangest of all the "stars" this season is the inclusion of Tom DeLay, the former Texas congressman who was indicted for money laundering in 2005. If Rod Blagojevich ends up on Season 10, we're giving up altogether.
