NBC Loves Kelly Kapur (And So Do We)

May 6, 2009

With 30 Rock winning tons of awards, Amy Poehler being funny on Parks and Recreation and Chuck probably not getting cancelled, NBC has built up a lot of good karma points over the last year. (NBC to karma: "Feel free to bring the love back to us any time now.") But they've managed to win an even bigger spot in our hearts today, as Variety reports that the peacock network and Universal Media Studios has signed a development deal with Office cutie Mindy Kaling.

The two-year, seven-figure deal would not take 29-year-old Kaling away from her Dunder-Mifflin duties on The Office; rather, she would continue to play the delightful Kelly Kapur while also working to create a new NBC comedy vehicle for herself.

"This is my first step in a Transformers-style way to take over the whole world," Kaling told Variety. "I've only ever worked for NBC, and I've felt an enormous amount of support from the executives there."

Not only does Kaling frequently brighten our lives on The Office, but she also writes on of our favourite blogs, Things I Bought That I Love, in which she talks about (duh) things she bought that she loves. If she can figure out turn her blog into a sitcom, it would win a permanent spot on our DVRs.
