Seth MacFarlane Says Stewie is Gay. Yeah, And?

August 13, 2009

In news that sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has announced that Stewie, the cartoon's effeminate toddler, is gay. Take a moment to compose yourself.

"We had an episode that went all the way to the script phase in which Stewie does come out," MacFarlane told Playboy in the September issue. "It had to do with the harassment he took from other kids at school. He ends up going back in time to prevent a passage in Leviticus from being written: 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is an abomination.'"

However, MacFalane and the other Family Guy writers eventually decided that it was better to stay vague with regards to Stewie's sexual orientation.

"Which makes more sense because he's a one-year-old," MacFarlane explained. "Ultimately, Stewie will be gay or a very unhappy repressed heterosexual. It also explains why he's so hellbent on killing [his mother, Lois] and taking over the world: He has a lot of aggression, which comes from confusion and uncertainty about his orientation."

Wait, does he mean that a desire for world domination is a sign of homosexuality? Because in that case, we are so gay.
