Here's some good news for all your Panther fans out there – it looks like Friday Night Lights might be coming back for not one but another two seasons. Go team!
Entertainment Weekly reports that NBC and DirecTV, who partnered to bring FNL back for its current Season 3, are deep into serious talks about bringing the critically-acclaimed series back next year. However, the deal actually hangs on whether or not they can renew the show for two seasons – good news if it goes through, but heartbreaking if it doesn't.
"We're very optimistic a deal with be worked out," an NBC insider told EW.
But Friday Night Lights faces two main hurdles. First, executive producer Jason Katims is currently attached to the NBC pilot Parenthood, and if it gets picked up, he would either have to split his attention between both shows or choose between them. Second, Jeffrey Reiner, one of the main directors for FNL, is also developing another show for the peacock network called Trauma. With two of its head honchos otherwise occupied, it's uncertain if Friday Night Lights could survive.
But these are the Dillon Panthers! They don't lie down and give up when faced with adversity – they fight to their last drop. Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose!
