All you Kate/Jack 'shippers out there may be comforted to know that even though your favourite Lost couple broke up on-screen, Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly are at least pay grade buddies in real life. And who needs love when you have a swimming pool filled with money?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two main stars of the hit drama entered secret negotiations with ABC Studios last week to give a healthy bump to their paycheques, which each currently sit somewhere around $150,000 US per episode.
Despite producers' best efforts, however, this was one secret Lost couldn't keep: word of the illicit meetings got out last Friday, prompting the drama's other supporting stars to demand their own salary re-negotiations as well. The rest of the cast currently command between $80,000 and $90,000 per episode, well below what Fox and Lilly already earn, especially when you consider that Terry O'Quinn, Michael Emerson, Henry Ian Cusick and Naveen Andrews have each earned at least one Emmy nominations for their performances (with O'Quinn taking the statuette for best supporting actor last year).
But perhaps we're being a little bit presumptuous. Fox might really, really need some more money. After all, he has his vital chest-waxing regimen to upkeep.
