Project Runway Returns This Summer, Finally

April 1, 2009

After months of legal battles, Project Runway will finally return to the airwaves this summer. The fate of the popular fashion design show has been in broadcast limbo for nearly a year, when the Weinstein Company announced its plan to move the series from Bravo to the Lifetime network. Bravo and NBC Universal, miffed at losing out on one of their most well-regarded shows, filed a breach-of-contract suit that effectively put the Weinstein Company's plans on hold.

But People now reports that both all parties involved have settled their differences at last.

"The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime. All of the parties are pleased with the outcome," the networks said in a joint statement.

Because of Project Runway's unknown future, the final runway show at this year's New York Fashion Week was shrouded in secrecy. While several collections were shown, the identities of the designers were kept a mystery.

Sources close to the show also told People that the new season will include appearances by Eva Longoria Parker, Christina Aguilera and Rebecca Romijn. Maybe if we're lucky, Rebecca and Heidi Klum will get into a supermodel catfight on the catwalk!
