Just when you thought popular culture couldn't be more saturated with The Hills, a source tells Us Weekly that MTV is planning a spinoff of their hit "reality" show. The new series would follow Whitney Port, Lauren Conrad's friend and coworker on The Hills, as she moves to New York City as part of her job with fashion PR firm People's Revolution.
Somewhere, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are having a carefully staged hissyfit for the paparazzi.
Storylines for the spinoff will involve 23-year-old Port befriending a new group of glamorous New York girls (including socialite Olivia Palerno) and, we hope, learning how to pronounce words ending with "-ing" properly. There's no "k" in there, Whitney! Stop sounding Russian!
Conrad told Us that she thinks the spinoff is a great idea, although it would be a big change of pace for Port, who has rarely appeared on The Hills outside of a work setting.
"[Whitney] is a very likable person. I would just tell her to have fun with it," said Conrad. "She's always made it very clear on The Hills that she doesn't want her personal life involved on the show, so it would definitely mean that she would have to come out of her comfort zone."
For her part, Port refused to confirm or deny the possibility of the spinoff, telling Us, "As far as I know, I've just been filmink for a fourth season of The Hills. Everythink is just kind of hearsay at this point."
