So much for the Gil Grissom's happy send-off with Sara Sidle. Although William Petersen's final CSI episode earlier this year saw Grissom leaving the lab to join his lady love in the jungle, Entertainment Weekly reports that Sidle portrayer Jorja Fox has signed on to appear on several episodes of the CBS procedural next season – sans Petersen. Trouble in the jungle, perhaps?

Producers were predictably cagey when it came to the circumstances under which Sara Sidle will return to CSI, though executive producer Carol Mendelsohn did say that during Fox's reappearance on the Sept. 24 episode, viewers will "discover where life has taken Sara Sidle and what brings her back to the CSI team in Las Vegas."

Gil/Sara 'shippers are no doubt losing their collective shiznit over this, worrying that the couple has broken up off-screen – but considering the hasty manner in which Sara originally left Las Vegas, maybe she's just coming back to move some furniture out of her apartment.
