Jane Fonda Says 'See You Next Tuesday' on Today Show

February 15, 2008

NBC issued a formal apology on behalf of itself and Jane Fonda after the actress used an offensive word on the Today Show yesterday, reports Reuters. What was the word? Well, it's slang for a woman's lady-parts and rhymes with "hunt."

Fonda was on the morning talk to publicize her appearance in the popular play The Vagina Monologues, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The naughty word was uttered when Fonda described how she initially didn't want to be in the play.

"I was asked to do a monologue called 'C***,' and I said, 'I don't think so. I've got enough problems," Fonda said.

Those vaginas are always causing trouble, aren't they?

Today host Meredith Vieira issued an apology later on in the program.

"Jane Fonda inadvertently said a word from the play that you don't say on television. It was a slip and obviously she apologizes and so do we," Vieira said. "We would do nothing to offend the audience, so please accept that apology."

In related news, Jane Fonda just got so much cooler.
